The Homeland Opus (a series of works in progress)
The Homeland Opus cycle opens a reflection on the past, memories and what shapes us. It brings to the foreground intimate scenes of people and everyday objects, each carrying a quiet weight of experience. Through dramatic light and soft painterly language, a space of silence is created. A place where the viewer can feel the presence of the absent.
Each painting is a fragment of a personal story that transcends the individual and touches on universal feelings of longing, sorrow, strength and hope. These works connect personal narratives with a multilayered reflection of time.
In memory of those who never stepped onto the stage of history, yet carried it on their shoulders.
Of those who never spoke of their love for the land, but simply lived it.
Stitch of the Homeland
Oil on canvas, 80 x 60 cm, 2025 (first in the series)
The painting portrays a girl sewing a flag. She is captured in a moment of calm focus and quiet concentration. The composition contrasts childlike innocence with the seriousness of the task she is performing. The use of dramatized light emphasizes the symbolic weight of the scene, while at the same time opens a space for reflection on simplicity. The simple and fundamental acts that shape our future.
Heritage of Silence
Oil on canvas, 80 x 60 cm, 2025 (second in the series)
Delo prikazuje dečka, zatopljenega v misli, ko sedi pred starimi vrati domače hiše in zre v očetove čevlje.
